Amb. Hanna Dijok, a wife and a proud mother of three wonderful boys, Thon 14, Kabiel 11, and Andrew Kongo 6. Amb. Dijok is an inspiring woman passionate about people’s development. Born in South Sudan
in the late 70s to Mrs. Mary Nyawanglel Lul kuoth and Dr. Andrew Kongo Dijok, Amb. Hanna Dijok would later move to Khartoum in Sudan with her mother and her siblings after the tragic death of their father. She later moved to Kosti City in the White Nile. Her mother became the only person that they could look up to—their strength and source of comfort. Her upbringing has shaped the woman she is today.
In 1997, Amb. Dijok left Sudan for France to join her elder sister. A few years later, the rest of the family moved to Australia. Despite spending most of her life abroad, Amb. Hanna Dijok has maintained a strong
connection to her country, South Sudan.
A seasoned women empowerment and peace advocate, today, Amb. Hanna Dijok is the founder and CEO of the South Sudan Institute for Research and Advocacy—an organization that pursues pathways to reconciliation and sustainable peace and development in South Sudan. She has actively participated in peacebuilding by engaging vulnerable women and girls, through South Sudan Women United and Africa Peace Mediation and Reconciliation Institute, having co-founded both organizations.
In 2016, she started a program for Internally Displaced People in the UN camps in White Nile (Sudan). The program was designed to empower widows and strengthen their skills in business, public health, and personal development to increase their self-esteem. Many women benefited from it.
Her Excellency Ambassador Dijok is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador through WOLMI and a participant of the International Consulting Cabinet (I.C.C.); women’s Leadership & Affairs Department of WOLMI Organization. Ambassador Dijok conducted a series of intensive training in Protocol, Diplomacy and Humanitarian Diplomacy from the prestigious WOLMI Academy in Association with CICA International University and Seminary of Toronto, Canada. Additionally, Amb. Dijok holds a degree in Languages and French Culture and Civilization from France Nantes University, and another degree in Fashion Design from the School of Fashion Design in Paris.
As a peace advocate, Amb. Dijok’s mission is to help people in need regardless of their nationalities or gender. She committed herself to being among those who work day and night to make our world a better place. She strongly believes that the inclusion of women in peace and nation-building processes is essential for long-term success. That gender-equal participation contributes to longer, and lasting peace.
